Who I AM

I was privileged to grow up in a Christian home. I understood my need for a Savior and accepted Christ when I was nine years old. As a teenager, I knew that God was leading me to the mission field. I visited Togo for the first time in 2009 and saw the very beginning of the ministry there. After visiting several other countries and teaching for 4 years, I returned to Togo. Five years after my first trip, I saw how that little church in the front yard had grown. It was still a church that desperately wanted to see others lives transformed like theirs had been, but because of this desire it had grown tremendously. While there, I saw the need for children’s ministry and how God had equipped me to meet that need.

Although missions is a big part of my heart and life, there is more to me. I am a daughter (of the King, but also of some pretty grand earthly parents), a sister, and a friend. I am from Cincinnati and like one good snow a year, but the vibrant colors of fall are my favorite. I enjoy crafting, but after the chaos of a project I have a place for everything and everything in its place. I enjoy fun competition (of course when I win it is always more fun :)). I also enjoy cooking and baking, but mostly because it brings people together. Although I can be quiet, I long for community and deep relationships. Oh, and I can't forget to tell you, I LOVE kids! They are most often the ones to bring me out of my shell.

I am working as part of a church planting team in the southern part of Togo. Our desire is to see people come to know Christ and become more like Him through discipleship. It is our goal to plant 25 churches around Lake Togo and have every church biblically/autonomously run by national leadership. My main role will be starting a children’s ministry in each church and training national leaders to run it.

With 40% of the population under the age of 14, children are a great avenue to reach the TogoleseWe have Sunday morning Children’s Church and will begin Courtyard kids at each church. Courtyard Kids is a Bible based program that uses character traits to evangelize and disciple. This ministry has been effective at connecting families to the first church plant.

Another facet of my ministry will be accepting the open invitations to do a Bible hour at several of the public schools. With these public schools in the vicinity of the first church plant, it will be my goal to get the students and their families involved in the ministry there.
